Off-shore Wind

An affordable, fast-growing technology

  • DGE has focused its recent attention upon the growing potential in successfully securing offshore wind projects in Europe and initially with our long term partnership Eneco in Benelux countries. This form of renewable power generation represents a significant continued contribution to offsetting carbon emissions from thermal generation. The technology has also matured and the scale of project feasibility has increased to close to 1 GW + over the past 10 -15 years. This form of renewable energy represents close to 50% of DGE’s portfolio.

Case Study:  Off-Shore Wind

  • DGE first entered the offshore wind market with the successful acquisition in 2013 from Dutch utility company Eneco of a 50% interest in the 129 MW offshore wind farm ‘Luchterduinen’ off the cost of the Netherlands in between the towns of Noordwijk and Zandvoort. At the same time, DGE and Eneco entered into a long term strategic partnership for the further joint development of offshore wind projects in Europe. On the back of this partnership, DGE’s offshore wind portfolio has since then expanded with the acquisition of an interest in the 370 MW Norther offshore wind farm in Belgium, the 680 MW Borssele sites III and IV in the Netherlands, and the 950MW Moray East project in Scotland. As part of DGE’s ambitious growth plans, DGE remains committed to further expand our offshore wind portfolio in Europe.
