Benelux (offshore wind)
Luchterduinen, Norther and Borssele 3 and 4
DGE first entered the offshore wind market in 2013, following the successful acquisition from Dutch utility company Eneco of a 50% interest in the 129MW offshore Luchterduinen wind farm, located 23km off the Dutch coast between Noordwijk and Zandvoort. The wind farm, which stretches across 25 square km, became fully operational in September 2015 and now generates enough sustainable energy each year to meet the needs of almost 150,000 homes. https://www.eneco.nl/over-ons/projecten/windpark-luchterduinen/

At the same time, DGE and Eneco entered into a long-term strategic partnership for the further joint development of offshore wind projects. The Norther offshore wind farm, in which DGE has a 25% stake, will be constructed from mid-2018 in the North Sea, approximately 23km from Zeebrugge. With a maximum capacity of 370MW, Norther is set to become Belgium’s largest offshore wind project. Once fully operational in 2019, Norther will generate enough sustainable energy to meet the needs of almost 400,000 homes. http://www.norther.be/

Together with our partners Eneco, Shell and Van Oord, in December 2016, DGE was awarded the tender for the offshore wind farm sites Borssele 3 and 4. Once constructed, 22km off the coast of Zeeland in the Netherlands, the site will have a total combined capacity of 680MW, generating enough sustainable energy each year to meet the needs of around 775,000 homes.

As part of DGE’s ambitious growth plans, we are seeking to further expand our offshore wind portfolio in Europe.
